i totally agree^^^!! a few days ago, i was reading this magazine which touched on this issue... it showed some shocking pictures of celebrities and teenagers who are very skinny to the point that they looked like the 1st pic... it's really scary and they looked sick... i think being too overweight is not good but being anorexic is just as bad...

that is better than that any day. IMO but honestly - i'd rather be anorexic than look like beth ditto. and if ANYONE says she's a good role model, you're all a bunch of hypocrites. why would the first picture be better? she looks like a starved african child. the only picture that looks healthy is the second one. I agree - that picture creeps me out just by looking at it Someone feed her quick!

I was watching thats so raven the other day, and there was something along these lines in the storyline. raven had a vision that she was gonna be on the catwalk modelling her clothes, but the judge said that people can only model if they have "the look" (a size 2) so raven tries to work out to get down to a size 2. but, this is the ending scene. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_e5BtowvxnIwhich is so true.

i would rather be size 18 the size 0. I realise people cant help being skinny because of natural weight, but why make yourself it? whats wrong with being a normal size.

I don't know why people get it in there minds that it's good to be size 0. It true when you see Size 0 models you start to think your fat when your not. I think people should just love the way they look and are. If you're fat, so what, you have not commited a crime! It is a really touchy issue though.

they shouldn't be banned. full stop. 1. clothes look good on skinny people, and even better on very skinny people. 2. i don't see why we should change the way we've viewed clothes and the fashion industry since the 60s just because there's people these days who don't understand how to stop eating. it's just a big exercise to make fat people feel better about themselves by claiming that thin people are too thin. 3. it's more unhealthy being overweight than underweight. i realise that some of these models have eating disorders and it's all a terrible shame, but banning then is ridiculous. 4.as for the issue of teenage girls trying to emulate the bodies, i genuinely think model's aren't to blame. girls with eating disorders have deep-rooted problems, and if the gene's there, it will come out eventually, regardless of which magazines she reads, or which size models are in them. 1. Models often are meant to function as 'coat hangers' but too skinny makes the clothes lose their attractiveness..the clothes actually hang badly on a lot of overly skinny models...and most normal people want to see normal girls so as to see what the clothes would look like on them if they bought the clothes.
2. i don't think that's true. as a thin girl myself i just look at the girls and feel sorry for them. they're forced to go on stupid diets and make themselves sick for fashion...and men don't even fancy catwalk models! i'm yet to meet men that rate them!!
3. banning may be a little extreme, but it should not under any circumstances be PROMOTED. less bony, skeletal models should be employed for shows. clothing designers should try to work with normal sized girls to promote healthy eating.
4. eating disorders can be brought on by a distorted perception of what's around them. therefore the media has a responsability to promote healthy eating and living, not using disgustingly thin models at every opportunity. also there's no such thing as a gene which gives you anorexia or bulimia..it's external not genetic.
