The thing with Doctor Who is, that the plot is so simple. Even after 44 years (on the BBC), Doctor Who always seems new and fresh, even when old enemies return. It's science fiction, but it also has comedy, drama and the slushy emotional stuff chucked in for good measure aswell. The thing that keeps it going is that each week (or in the old days, every month or maybe even longer), it's different. One week, they could step out onto a spaceship in the year 5 billion, and the next week, they'd be in Victorian Caldiff. The story isn't on going each week, it changes, so the audience can jump in anywhere. It's also that it's a simple characters setting. You have a man and a women, who basically fall in love and have adventures together. It just so happens that this is in the TARDIS. Before I saw episode one of the first series, I was confused how, after a 16 year gap, it could just carry on.
And can I also add, if you haven't seen it, it isn't a stupid question. =}
And tonight, the Face of Boe will say his four golden words. I won't say of the more sensible ideas, but some of the silly, funny things he may say are:
"Any Dream Will Do" (65/1) "I'm moving to ITV" (98/1) "Talk to the Hand" (99/2) "Rose is close by" (This one is if the series is doing bad)

Haha someone swallowed a whole lot of RTD interviews Yeah from what I can gather, it was a bit more of a straight Sci-Fi show in the earlier series, not completely straight by more than it is now. And as Jack said, it's pretty easy to follow and pick up wherever for that matter.

I'm a Doctor Who fan, but i sadly missed the first episode of the 3rd Series. I was on holiday in Australia. I know that there's a new sidekick and something about the moon. Can anyone give me a brief explanation of the episode?

You can possibly watch it on youtube or even download it if you download stuff. But in the first episode this is what happened. The Doctor booked into a hospital as he saw a lot of plasma stuff surrounding it. Martha(the new sidekick) is a doctor in training and she works there. The hospital is pulled from its place from earth and moved to the Moon, which is neutral ground for these creatures called the Judoon, who are like police and they look like Rhinos. They're looking for a plasmavore which is a shapeshifter and looks like a human being. They go around flashing this thing at everybody to see whether they're human or not...the plasmavore drinks the head of department's blood so she can register as human.
Martha and the Doctor come together as they are trying to figure out what they are doing on the moon. The Doctor comes in contact with the Judoon so there's a race cause he registers as non-human so they're after him thinking he's the bad guy. He kisses Martha so she can have traces of non-human on her so they would have to double check. He follows the plasmavore to the MRI where she(the plasmavore) has increased the brain scanning machine so that she can destroy the Judoon and the earth. The Doctor tricks her into believing the Judoon are doing second checks so she drinks his blood, which means she would register as non-human...Martha saves the day and then brings the doctor back to life. After that long day the hospital is transfered back to planet Earth, Martha goes to her brother's 21st birthday party and then the Doctor appears telling her that he wants to thank her so he's offering her one trip.
That's about it...i hope its clear enough

Yeah me too. Daleks next week. I think I prefer Martha as a companion because everything is new and exciting again and Russel is exploring different areas. She is asking different questions. I can't wait for Jack to come back. I'm really interested to see the Ten/Jack dynamic.

AHW! The Big Old Face of Boe is gone. And apparently, the Doctor is "Not Alone". I think we probley all know what this means, but I won't say just in case.
Next Week is the Daleks. They may die forever at the end of this one, coz they're licence from Terry Nation's estate runs out from the first of January 08, unless of course, they can secure another 3 years...
