I know this is a girlie sort of board, but i have a friend who's a girl and she loves playing sports and wears 3/4 quarters, trainers, sports tops etc. Everytime we're in the park playing football she join's in too. She thinks that when people walk past she's not being a girl. I think these people are being feminist. She asked me for advice, but i told her to stick the way she is, but she's still not feel comfortable. What should i do?

You should tell her that if she loves sports and tracksuits etc stick with it. There's bound to a million of other girls who are exactly the same. Tell her to ignore people who say these nasty things. As far as i'm concerned i'm just like her. I love football as much as i like David Beckham.

Aha, people think the same thing about me. -Except I'm not sporty but I might've taken a lot of mannerisms from my brothers. It doesn't bother me what other people think because I can't help it and I'd rather be comfortable than change because they think I'm not girly enough.
Well what she should do is stick to what she's comfortable with. Maybe she wants to start wearing stereotypically girly clothes. If she wants to take that step, she could probably transition slowly. But honestly, I don't see anything wrong with wearing a sports attire nor do I think it makes females look less graceful just, you know, probably not to a wedding or something formal. I guess it's all a matter of how one carries onesself.
I'll say it again, she should do what she's really comfortable with. If she wants to be all "girly," don't start teasing her because it'll be awkward at first. And even if you're a boy, try to help her out and ease her mind. Don't go telling her she looks weird in a dress or whatever. And, if she wants to still be sporty, then good for her. There's always a compromise as well. Either way, whatever she wants to do she should do it because she wants to not because she was influenced by others.

That's why she's awesome though and she's not bothered a bit lol Your friend should just stick to what she wants to do, not what anyone else wants for her If she wants to play sports, then she should play sports

tell your friend she shouldn't care what other people think...and on a wider scale than just being a tomboy, not everybody is ever happy with certain people's images...people slag people for being goths, emos, too girly, too boyish...anything. you can't please everyone, so just please yourself

she shouldn't care what those people say! they are stereotyping girls and that shouldn't happen. i say, play football until you can't run anymore!
