According to scientists we've got 50 years if the Global Warming theory even exists. The problem's not our fault, the chain was started during Industrial Revolutions which China is going through at the moment. Nothing's going to work either way if America and China don't get involved and they won't do it because as the biggest economies (and also biggest CO2 producers), their focus is on the damage it will do to their businesses rather than the environment. Everyone really should watch Inconvient Truth which is out now and has been made by Al Gore, the guy who would have been president instead of George Bush if a few thousands votes went his way,. That video scared the crap out of me when I watched it a while back on youtube. It astounds me how downright selfish humans can be sometimes. Even more unbelievable how some people are still in denial that global warming is happening at all. I'm downright tired of hearing that global warming isn't an issue. It makes me want to shake them and ask them if they're for real. Anyone would have to be an idiot to not realize that the climate is changing rapidly and the ice caps are melting way too fast. Whilst it's true you shouldn't believe everything in the media, this one's serious. I can't turn the television on or open a magazine without seeing something about global warming. If it really wasn't happening and there was no proof it existed then there is no way on earth they'd be making this big a deal out of it. Global warming is happening and unless we re-think our actions and begin making a change then we will have a heavy price to pay later on.

My boyfriend's always getting annoyed with me because whenever he throws a piece of paper or bottle in the bin, I'll go "David, recycle that!!" ...I get hippie abuse back, but it'll be his fault when the world blows up, I tell you.

Ooooohh I HATE it when people don't recycle. TO THE MAX.
And I also hate when people leave taps on when they're brushing their teeth.

Whats leaving the tap on got anything to do with global warming? Is this just a general topic of things we hate?
I don't like recycling. I find it really annoying. Ok you can take newspapers to a different bin but other than that its just ridiculous havin a different bin for everything you throw away. Why should we make a difference when people before us who probably are to blame made things worse...I don't take the blame for other people's misbehaviours!

It's not taking the blame, it's being a little tiny bit selfless to help to environment. Clearly you're not into that.

People like you make me so angry. Fine we didn't start it all but now we know what the consequences will be if we don't buck up our ideas. We have the power right now to change things but people like you are perfectly willing to throw them down the drain all because you're too freaking lazy to walk to a different recycling bin! This is your future we're talking about here, your children's future, quite frankly I'm disgusted over people like you. Here's a quote for you: Intelligence never hurt anyone, but ignorance can kill.

I seriously doubt that every time you throw something in the bin that you stp beforehand and think to yourself 'oh, i should be putting this in this particular bin' no yu dont, because if you did, your entire life would be putting things in all these different recycle bins. If every single person recycled and there were a few that dont, then i could understand why you woul react this way. Now tell me, how much difference exactly is one person going to make to this. So one person doesnt want to recycle, whoop ti do! Your a recycling freak - praise the lord we have annoying people like you that tell us what we should be doing, And as far as that quote is concerned 'Intelligence never hurt anyone, ignorance can kill' You must have killed quite a lot, because you are being very ignorant to others opinions and choices.

And people like you make my blood boil as well. What the heck is up with this ignorant attitude of 'I'm only one person, I can't make a difference.' Grr...I hate that. The fact is one person CAN make a difference. Are you telling me that Martin Luther King didn't make a difference? Mother Theresa didn't make a difference? I could go on and on. But that's not the point anyways. If we all did something to help then we could bloody fine well make one heck of a difference. It's just when people can't be bothered then I start to feel a bit narked. In my house noone even needs to think about which recycling bin to put thinks - it's just automatic now. Fine I don't have a recycling bin for every single household good but I do have one for tins, plastic and paper, believe me even just by doing that alone I'm helping out more than some people are doing. It may not seem a lot but d**n it I'm trying. Whoop ti do, I am a recycling freak and I'll say this, I'm darn proud of it and wouldn't have it any other way! Thank the lord we have preachy people like me indeed!

On certain issues yes 1 person can make a difference, but on recycling it takes a lot more than one person to change that. If in the future i do decide to recycle then i will, but for now im going to live my life the way i want to and if thats is choosing not to recycle then so be it.
I shall repeat what i said to you in another thread, be open in allowing be people their own choices wether or not they are the same as yours is none of your business. So stop trying to force your opinions onto others and respect peoples choices, the way that people respect your choice to recycle, even if their choice is not to.

Which is exactly my point. If we worked together then the world would be a better place.
It's not just on recycling but I hate the whole 'I'm only one person I can't make a difference' argument, on almost everything - poverty, factory farming, world hunger, things like that. If everyone had that attitude God knows where we'd be today.
You can not recycle if you really want but I will. I don't think it's nice having people preach to other people but earlier on I was merely trying to get across to Kaly that that attitude gets us nowhere.
Sorry if I offended anyone. I'm passionate about a lot of global issues like this, probably why it annoys me so much how people can pretend like it's not happening. Just makes me want to shake them to see if there's anything in there, you know?

I can understand that, but what you must remember is that while people are young, not that much attention is given to these issues. I can admire that you are passionate about these issues, just remember that other people can become just as passionate over time.

I completely agree with you, Kayla! At first when Wales got those bins to put different rubbish in, I couldn't be bothered. Now, though, I'm the most obsessed person in my family! They joke that if I can't recylcle a piece of paper, I act like I'm going to Hell. Recycling genuinely means a lot to me; if we have to cut trees down, for example, we may as well put them to good use.

Recycling genuinely means a lot to me; if we have to cut trees down, for example, we may as well put them to good use. You sound just like me lulu, my family all think I'm incredibly weird because I'm obsessed with recycling and the enviroment! If someone's about to throw something in the trash, I start throwing a fit at them to recycle it instead! They roll their eyes at me and it's obvious they're thinking that I'm crazy but I can't help it - it's just global warming scares me so much I want to do everything I can to at least slow it down - I don't want my children, grandchildren to blame me when the enviroment goes down the drain. I actually have this image in my head of my future grandchildren saying something like 'Grandpa, you had the chance to do something, why didn't you help stop it?' It sounds sad but I don't want that to happen. Noone can deny that we right now do have the power to make things better. Sure we didn't start this mess, I understand that, but we do have the power to help clean it up. I don't understand why people are so happy just to throw that chance away. And at least now if the enviroment does go down the drain at least I'll be able to say that I tried my best to help. To me that's a lot better than having to think 'I wish I'd done something to help.' Well that's my opinion anyways.
