I went to the dentist yesterday and I have 2 cavaties It's because of my braces. I can't reach the back of my mouth easily when I brush and there was some food lodged in my teeth I have to get it filled soon. I'm really upset because I could of prevented it. I have a small mouth and small teeth. Thats what my dentist said when she told me I had 2 cavaties

Yeah. It takes me ages to brush my teeth now because I don't want anymore cavaties. I can't wait to get my braces off and see my new straight teeth! They will need whitening because where the brackets been will be white and where it hasn't been slightly yellow...

I'm having a fixed brace on Friday, i'm rather scared. How do they attach it to you teeth and how long does it take to fit it?

I'm having a fixed brace on Friday, i'm rather scared. How do they attach it to you teeth and how long does it take to fit it? Flick x They stick it on with various glues and stuff Flick I admit the stuff does taste vile, but it doesn't hurt having them in. It takes about 20 minutes...listening to my iPod really helped me. Good luck and don't worry, Flickie! xxx

They just cement it on really, it doesn't hurt at all and it doesn't take long.
It will be fairly painful afterwards, though. Taking painkillers before you go in might help.

Lulu and TheSneaky are right! They glue it on but you can taste a slightly horrid taste.
Flick, Your dentist might have something in the room to take your mind completely off braces. My dentist had a plasma hanging right above me and i just watched T.V whilst he put the braces on. You will get used to them and eveyrthing will be fine. I had mine on September 2006 and got them taken off June 2007. Some braces have great progress on your teeth that you don't even have to have them on for a year!

Same here! I'm wearing a retainer. It's exactly the same as a non-fixed brace. It's just makes sure the job you have done with the fixed brace stay long enough. I have an appointment in November or something, could be my last one!

I get mine of January 2008! I'm really excited to see what my teeth look like. They'll need whitening of course but I can't wait!

It was ok thanks for asking Lulu. I have a phobia of the Dentist, so i was reallly scared but it wasn't as bad as i thought it'd be! Today though one of my teeth is really hurting when i put pressure on it, is this normal?

yes, It is normal. You do feel a ache when you put your teeth together! It's normal, Flick. It soon fades off and you feel better. I've had it before, when your dentist tightens the wire you feel it again. But the pain eases away very quickly, so don't be worried.
